From Botswana you cross the border into Zambia and drive about two hours to the Ilala Lodge Hotel, the closest hotel to Victoria Falls. This is your base to explore, admire, and be thrilled by one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World: Victoria Falls. Walking to the various viewing areas of the falls you view this dramatic chasm filled with mist and the roar of falling water.
Your awe-inspiring tour of the falls includes two hours of hiking through the rainforest with a qualified guide, who delivers a colorful interpretation of the falls and the surrounding flora, fauna, birds, and wildlife.
Upon request, there is an additional excursion to the Devil’s Pool, a naturally-formed body of water that rests on the edge of the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Visits to Devil’s Pool are seasonal due to the water flow, and swimming is only possible between September and January, when the water is at its lowest.
On the final day of your adventure, have the option of exploring the falls by foot or by boat. The boat ride takes place on a comfortable vessel featuring open sides and a canopied roof.
Once aboard, we cruise toward Palm and Kandahar Islands, enjoying the stunning African sunset on the Zambezi River. This is a magnificent opportunity to see the region and its wildlife from a new perspective. You may see a variety of game including hippo, crocodile, elephant, and many species of bird. The cruise includes snacks, beer, wine, local spirits, and soft drinks.
